I’ve been applying for probably [left hand moves to chin, eyes up "thinking"]…two jobs a day. For the past…four months, probably? [shrugs]

But um… they want experience on the jobs? [holds hands out] And…and I don’t have experience. [eye roll]

I mean, I went to college? [left hand held out] And, I always thought that was experience…but, it’s not, apparently.

And, everywhere I go they’re like [hands go up, eye roll] “w-well, can you do excel? [excel sheet pops up right side - character points] Can you do power point?” [power point pops up left side - character points] [heh]

And it just…gets to the point where I can’t even get a job at Bed Bath and Beyond. [hands up, eye roll]

Like, literally I tried to get a job at the Bed Bath and Beyond near Union Square and I had an interview, and I thought it went pretty well, but they never called me back…because, they said, I didn't have enough experience.

[heh]Even though…I have a lot of experience in selling [resume pops up with "1) selling" - character points to it] …and making sales. ["2) making sales" pops up on resume - character points to it]

I-I worked at the art gallery ["3) art gallery" pops up on resume - character points to it] for three and a half months, until it closed. [cross out art gallery]

W-which was not my fault, the owner was a cocaine addict, but, but they said that selling art was different. [hands up, air quotations]

It was a different kind of skill set from home goods and they were worried I would have a [air quotes] hard time adjusting in terms of [air quotes] skill sets.

And I was like, “well that’s not true” [character left hand goes up, then down]

and they were like “well we think it is true” [character right hand goes up, then down]

and and I was like “well there are a lot of skills that I have that could be very, valuable to you” [character left hand goes up, then down]

a-and they were like, “what skills?” [breath in]

and I was like [pause] “like, my personality. [points to self] I have a really good personality and I’m personable, an-and [people icon pops up, character points] I can talk to people from all walks of life… and I [school icon pops up, character points] went to a good college and [degree icon pops up, character points] I’m smart and if you teach me [homes goods icon pops up, character points] how to sell home goods, I can sell home goods, [halo, prayer hands] I swear to god.”

[pause]

And they were like, [mocking face] “well we disagree” [pause]

And I was like, “well, you’re totally wrong”

and they were like, [both hands go up] “well actually you’re totally wrong and we’re the ones that get to decide, so yeah, don’t call us, we’ll call you” [big sigh]
